Before Your Treatment
Pre-Care Tips:
- Do not wear any hair pieces the week before.
- No caffeine (coffee, Coke, sports drinks, etc.)
- Do not tan and avoid direct sunlight to avoid burning and peeling of the skin.
- Exfoliate and moisturize the scalp two times a day for at least a week before your treatment.
- No aspirin, blood thinners, drugs, or alcohol for 48 hrs prior to treatment. Please drink water and eat well.
- Cannot treat if scalp has been exposed to direct sun, is sunburned or if individual has used tanning beds.
- Stop taking blood thinners, caffeine and prelockout drinks 48 hours prior to your procedure.
- Start applying a moisturizer cream, such as Cocoa Butter or Nivea After-Sun moisturizer to your scalp EVERY NIGHT 1 week before procedure and wash it out in the morning. Repeat this process every night until the day of your procedure.
- Stop using any medications such as Minoxidil, Rogaine, Finasteride, Propecia until you’re done with your treatment.
- Make sure you drink plenty of water the week before your procedure to ensure you skin is in the best possible condition.
- Buzz your hair on the day before your procedure, do NOT shave your scalp with a razor or foil machine. The suggested length is a #00 length with a T-Liner buzzer (unless discussed otherwise with your SMP artist.
- We also recommend having a meal before your session and bringing along a snack and beverage.
- Wash your scalp (with scent-free shampoo) and be sure to remove any hair thickening products or fibers as well.
- Refrain from putting any product in the hair or on the scalp after it is clean (thickening sprays, gels, moisturizers, hairspray, etc.). A light, scent-free moisturizer can be used if the scalp is still dry (even when following the pre-care directions above).
- Keeping your hair long? (Male & Female Hair Density Procedure) – Cut to desired length.
- Exfoliate then moisturize your scalp before you go to bed (light exfoliation to remove any dead skin).
- On the morning of your procedure, make sure to wash your scalp really well to remove any residue left over from the moisturizer.
- If you currently use any hair concealers, hair fibers, hair spray, minoxidil, chemicals etc. DO NOT apply anything on the day of your treatment.
- Do not consume alcohol or drugs before the treatment, with the exception of medication prescribed by your doctor. If you need Pain Management, Tylenol is the only approved medication.
